Old Cemetery on Garden Street

We invite all Trackers of Lodz history to set off with us on an extraordinary historical adventure. Lodz Old Cemetery on Ogrodowa Street is one of the most beautiful Polish cemetery complexes. The number of monuments, extraordinary works of tombstone art, blacksmithing and decorative art can perhaps only be compared to Warsaw’s famous Powazki cemetery. In the three cemeteries of the complex: Evangelical, Orthodox and Catholic, one will find examples of many artistic styles fashionable in the 19th and 20th centuries, references to the Renaissance, antiquity, Gothic art or patterns drawn from ancient Egypt. These beautiful works of sepulchral art conceal human tragedies, loves, extraordinary heroism and the everyday life of our ancestors, who weave a tale of human destiny for us contemporaries. So we invite you to take a historical journey into the world of art and into the past of our very colorful city.
